Dry Skin in Spring

As the temperatures start to rise, sloughing off dead cells can renew and refresh your skin for spring.

Even though skin exfoliation should be done throughout the year, spring is the season to give our skin the attention it deserves. Dry body brushing can help to decrease dry skin and flakiness. Application of body oils will keep skin conditioned and smooth. A hot bath or shower can actually dehydrate your skin and if you are using the soap bars then it will make your skin drier. Hot water, especially when exposed over long periods of time, can strip skin off of what it needs to keep itself healthy ; using lukewarm water will be beneficial. Also the best choice is to use Chana dal or chick pea flour with whole milk as an exfoliating and moisturizing mixture .You can add a pinch of turmeric too in it for a glow. I still remember my mom used to recycle the strained chai powder for applying on skin when it's used to be very dry. Some people may feel it gross 😂 ; but believe me I myself have experienced this ; applying the strained chai powder leaves the skin smooth and shiny. As we use whole milk to make chai and residue of the tea and milk makes the perfect mixture to smooth the drier skin. Just don't add any chai masala then !!! (Those who are worried about their bath tubs can apply this outside of the bathtub and don't forget taking care of the bathroom floor ; you can use newspapers to avoid stains from the spillage . 😜) One can use sesame seeds (not hulled) utan or paste with a pinch of turmeric. Just grind the sesame seeds dry or wet doesn't matter add little turmeric and apply all over and lightly rub. This will not only exfoliate the dead skin but will help repair the dry skin too. If you want you can make this in water/ rose water/ milk. Also you can add some dried orange peal powder too.

For a facial mask that is sure to leave your complexion smooth and glowing, combine: 1 teaspoon plain yogurt 1 teaspoon honey ½ of an unripe papaya Mix the ingredients in a blender and then apply to your face for 8 to10 minutes. Rinse and moisturize. One more mask is of lentil or Masoor flour + almond power in equal proportion adding few drops of almond oil mixing with milk make a smooth paste and apply to face . Keep for 15-20 min and wash thoroughly with hands moving in circular motion to scrub it on face. You can try using creams with primary ingredients such as cocoa or Shea butter. To get the maximum hydration, avoid rubbing dry after the shower. Pat lightly. And most important thing is to keep yourself well hydrated. Drink that much water so that your pee should be clear and not dark yellow.
